Awkwafina
Awkwafina is an American performer and actor who began her career with clever raps that tackled gender and ethnic identities from a an edgy, comical perspective. Her career then grew to Hollywood. Nora Lum is the daughter of Chinese and Korean parents from Forest Hills Queens. The trumpet was her first instrument. In addition to classical and jazz, the young Nora began studying hip-hop in her teens. While in college, she took classes in writing and women's studies. In addition, she spent an hour studying Mandarin in Beijing. It wasn't until she graduated that she begin to concentrate on music. After becoming famous on the Internet the track My Vag was a reaction to the Mickey Avalon song My Dick. It eventually made its way onto the debut album Yellow Ranger. It also included viral hits including body-positive Queef & winking home tour NYC Bitche$1. This latter song was directly connected to Awkwafina's NYC Travel Guide for 2015, which was a travel guide. Alongside being a published author as well, she also worked singing. In addition to early television programs like Girl Code and Tawk, she's also appeared in movies like Neighbors2Storks, and Bad Rap. In 2018 she landed major roles in a variety of high-profile films like Dude Ocean's 8 and Crazy Rich Asians. The EP was released in June.
